RUISLIP is in need of "specialist retirement accommodation" according to the developer which applied to demolish homes and build a three-storey home.
Residents were overjoyed in January when McCarthy and Stone's application to develop 22 to 28 Sharps Lane was refused by Hillingdon Council's planning committee.
But now the developer is appealing against the council's decision.
Adam Boyle, spokesman for McCarthy and Stone, said: "We believe that there is a need for specialist retirement accommodation in the Ruislip area and we are convinced this is a site that can be successfully developed to this end.
"We were disappointed with the planning committee's decision to turn the application down and still think the proprosed building fits comfortably within the site, which is why we have decided to appeal.
"We now look forward to putting our case before the planning inspector."
