ARMED raiders burst into a Ruislip jewellers and snatched more than £100,000 worth of watches, cash and jewellery yesterday morning.

Three men armed with guns and hammers and wearing balaclavas stormed CS Bedford, in Ruislip High Street, and threatened staff, including the 61-year-old owner Tony Ungar.

His son, Robert Ungar, 39, who also works at the family-run jewellers, which has been in Ruislip since 1932, said: "Three guys came in at about 9.40am.

"One of them vaulted the cabinet at the back of the store and dragged my father out with a gun and demanded he opened the till and hand over the money.

"The two others went over to the watch display and smashed the door with a hammer and grabbed a lot of Omega and Breightling watches and some second-hand men's jewellery that was in there.

"One of the girls who works here was in the window at the time and she was pinned up against the window and told she wouldn't get hurt if she kept quiet."

The robbers left the shop and were seen making a getaway in a black Volkswagen Golf which was parked in Brickwall Lane.

Robert continued: "Despite the fact they have a high value most of the watches they have taken will be pretty worthless because they have serial numbers logged in the UK and Switzerland.

"If they try to sell them to other jewellers they will be discovered as the numbers will be checked, and if someone tries to get one of them fixed they will be arrested for handling stolen goods.

"A lot of people on the High Street actually took pictures on their phones of them, and there is a lot of CCTV in the shop and in the surrounding streets.

"They also left behind a lot of physical evidence so the police think they will catch them."

None of the staff were injured during the raid.
