Make the most of your situation

With the news full of job cuts, people in employment are being told they are lucky to have a job. But what if you don’t you feel that way? What if you are longing for redundancy and the chance to start again? Could the current economic climate be exactly what the career doctor ordered?

Research from YouGov has found only one in two employees in the UK are happy with their role and current employer, but is this really the best time to think about dropping it all and changing course when the credit crunch is biting and common sense dictates caution?

But plenty of people are, according to authors of new book Find Your Dream Job, Sarah Wade and Carole Ann Rice.

The book features a woman who turned down an investment offer from the Dragon’s Den to keep to her dream of a unique organic beauty products industry, a man who left his admin job after 20 years to find success in the competitive world of freelance food writing, and a lorry driver who turned his redundancy into an opportunity to get back his self-esteem when he got on his bike and cycled to Beijing.

Sarah is a producer for the BBC and Carole Ann is a journalist and life coach, who has had more than her share of dead end jobs, turning her life around when she trained to become a coach.

As well as featuring real life stories, Find Your Dream Job will also guide you with coaching tools to help you each step of the way from getting clarity at the beginning to devising a strategy to your goal.

Find Your Dream Job is published by Marshall Cavendish, £12.99. More details at www.findyourdreamjob.com
