MOST recently known for her friendly and chatty ways on ITV's Loose Women, Jane McDonald has returned to what she loves best- performing- and she will be bringing her show to the Wycombe Swan this month.

As many people will know, Jane became famous overnight in the 90s after the BBC filmed a docusoap called The Cruise.

The show followed life on board a cruise ship, where Jane was a cabaret singer, and it was watched regularly by 14 million viewers.

Since then she has released seven albums and for the last ten years she has been a popular panellist on ITV's daily lunchtime show, Loose Women.

But after a big decision this year to leave the show, she is back touring with her music.

Jane said: "I have never seen a reaction quite like this in all my career.

"I don't know what's changed. Maybe it is because I am back in the driving seat.

"I have got time to be the producer. On TV I was trying to do everything else.

"When you are producing your show and you know how it is going to work, you cannot go in at 40 per cent."

She fine tunes every part of the show and said she has an amazing band, who bring it all together.

Jane said: "A lot of people who didn't see me 17 years ago don't realise that it is actually my main job- a singer and entertainer.

"I have always been a singer and entertainer and the TV has come with it, which is great."

And after giving up Loose Women she said it has really made a difference to her music as she has had time to fully concentrate on it.

In March she released her seventh studio album, The Singer of Your Song, which is her first in six years following on from her No 7 silver disc certified selling album Jane in 2008.

Recorded in London, Surrey and Prague The Singer of Your Song has been produced by Nigel Wright with Jane as executive producer.

Jane said: "I workshop on tour- what do the fans really want? All the songs on the album have been favourites with the fans.

"It is not rocket science but it is important to listen to your fans."

And there will be songs from all her albums during her show at the Wycombe Swan this month.

She said: "It is wild. I will say that. Everybody thinks- well I don't' know what people think.

"But they seem to have a question mark over their head when they think of me and they don't know if they fancy seeing me.

"When they have been, they are hooked for life.

"It is word of mouth with me."

And Jane believes it is one of the best shows out there a the moment adding: "It is a massive stage set. It is has got a live band and singers in it.

"The outfits are fantastic- it is proper showbiz and to be quite honest, there are not many doing that right now."

Jane decided to leave Loose Women earlier this year which is a lunchtime TV show with a panel of four women who interview celebrities and discuss topical issues.

It has been given a new look this year and the 19th series began on Monday with a host of new panellists.

Jane said: "I haven't had time to miss Loose Women. It was a massive decision for me to make- why would you walk away from such a successful TV show like that?

"This side of the business is where I want to be. Anyone can be on a panel and talk about news for an hour. Not many people can stand up on stage and perform for two and a half hours.

"I still love it. I am looking forward to seeing the new people in it . I do wish is every success. I loved it for ten years."

She said she had a hoot with regular panellists, Denise Welch, Carol McGiffin, Lisa Maxwell and Lynda Bellingham.

Jane said: "We had some great laughs. I think that is what people liked. We just said it as it was.

"We shouldn't have said as much as we did. We seemed to get away with it."

Jane is engaged to Eddie Rothe, who she first dated more than 30 years ago. He comes to her shows if they are local to their home but otherwise "he likes to keep the home fires burning."

And Jane seems on top form as she looks forward to next part of her career.

She said: "I have got back to what I love doing. I have got my magic back." Jane McDonald is at The Wycombe Swan on September 27 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £19.50 to £34.50 with a £1.50 booking fee from 01494 512000 or go to www.wycombeswan.co.uk.
