A banker from High Wycombe has had his first taste of fame after starring in a leading Bollywood movie.

Roshaan Khan, 30, a personal banker at the High Wycombe branch of Santander, played a Taliban leader in Welcome 2 Karachi, which premiered in the UK on May 29.

The film, which stars Bollywood celebrities Arshad Warsi and Jackky Bhagnani, follows two men from India land as they land in Karachi, Pakistan, without their passports.

After getting trapped by the Taliban, they desperately try to find a way to get back to India.

Roshaan has told of his pride at starring in the film which had showings at Cineworld in High Wycombe.

He said: “I went to see the film in Cineworld when it came out and it was amazing. People were recognising me as we walked out of the film and wanting to take selfies with me.

“I'm working in a bank and people know me as their banker but it was amazing to be recognised as an actor.

“Acting is my hobby and my passion. It was really amazing to be a part of this film; it’s the biggest film I have done so far.”

Roshaan takes on two separate looks in the film, as the Taliban leader disguises himself as a pilot to hijack an aeroplane.

But juggling his day job and his hobby for acting proved tough with a gruelling schedule.

He said: “The shoot was about 17 to 18 days and I’m in the film for around 20 minutes. For me, it was an incredible experience.

“It was very tough, I was working full days at the bank and filming at Birmingham NEC, so I would leave work at the end of the day and drive straight up there.

“I would finish at 6am and then shower and go straight back to work at the bank. It was hard work, but people would say to me ‘your workplace should be proud of you’ which was really warming to hear.”

The budding movie star hopes his story can encourage other people to follow their dreams.

“I hope my story can give people motivation. There are always lots of bad news stories out there, especially in High Wycombe. I’m working really hard at the moment because I don’t want to grow old and regret never taking these chances.

“I’m so blessed to have been given this amazing chance.”

So can the banker, who has a Masters degree in Business Administration, see a future for him in the acting world?

"Acting is my passion. The producers are thinking of making the sequel to Welcome 2 Karachi and hopefully they won’t be able to do it without me! I’d love a chance to do this again.

“A lot of good things are coming my way. It’s very exciting.”
