THE Masque Players chose to stage something different to their usual productions and offered a ghostly experience.

Set in an old deserted Manor two couples decide to look round the property with a view to buying it. Rumours surround the Manor and it is purported that the ghost of Ebenezer Blackstoke roams the house and grounds dissuading would be buyers.

After several ghostly happenings, creaks and groans, chains rattling and doors slamming and locking for no apparent reason the appearance of a menacing neighbour adds to the tension.

One of the group discovers a graveyard in the grounds with crumbling gravestones engraved on which were members of the Blackstoke family together with the fact that Elizabeth Blackstoke had disappeared without trace.

With some superb sounds and effects the play was a great success.

Director Sheelagh Jones had a very strong cast who all played their parts well. This is only the second time this play has been performed.

The author was in the audience and I was able to gauge her reaction and ascertain how she felt about another group staging her play.

She is to be complimented on this well written play and is, I believe working on her third. I hope to see more of her work in the future,
