With both The National Youth Theatre and Arts Education School beckoning, Jonathan Godbold, student drama teacher and assistant director of the Carol Kristian Theatre School has much to look forward to.

Jonathan, from Chorleywood, has been training at the Carol Kristian Theatre School since he was six years old, focusing on acting, dancing and singing, and he has recently finished studying for his A levels, at St Clement Danes School. While at the theatre school, Jonathan gained LAMDA Gold Medals in acting, verse and prose, and group drama, as well as passing exams in ballet, modern, tap and jazz.

Jonathan has played many roles including Bill in Kiss Me Kate, Tyrone in Fame, the lead role in Oliver! and Snowboy in West Side Story. He has also performed in Les Miserables, Little Shop of Horrors and Fur Coat and No Knickers to name but a few.

He is now taking on the role of Aslan and Professor Kirk in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe at The Elgiva Theatre, which marks the theatre school’s 22nd production. The show involves two teams of children aged between three and 18 and contains classical ballet, tap, jazz, drama and singing.

The show also will be Jonathan’s first and last experience of teaching at the theatre school as he has been awarded a scholarship to take up a three year degree course in Musical Theatre at Arts Educational School in September and has just been accepted as a member of The National Youth Theatre, where stage luminaries such as Helen Mirren and Daniel Day Lewis began their careers.

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is at The Elgiva until Saturday. Tickets: 01494 582900, www.elgiva.com (£10-£12)
