Watford Palace Theatre is running a new play-writing workshop programme called Off the Page to give local playwrights the opportunity to develop their skills and receive expert feedback about their creative writing.

The theatre’s learning co-ordinator, Jen Thomas, says: “We are delighted to welcome back Ola Animashawun from the Royal Court Theatre, London, to run this session as she was involved in our spring workshops for local writers.”

The theatre will host the first session this Saturday from 10.30am to 5pm. Participants will read each other’s work aloud and have the chance to engage in feedback conversations, which will be facilitated by the workshop leader. Jen continues: “This really is a fantastic opportunity for people to develop their scripts and have a chance to work with a professional director.”

With a limited capacity of ten places each, these summer workshops are a rare opportunity for participants to hear their own writing and that of their peers read aloud to enable them to take the next steps in developing their work.

The session cost £14-£20 and places can be booked through the box office on 01923 225671. Details: 01923 810307, learning@watfordpalacetheatre.co.uk
