MP Since - 2010 Majority - 1,425 Born - 1957. Married, 2 sons.
Education - Leeds Grammar School. Keeble College, Oxford (Law).
Previous Occupation - Postgraduate scheme with John Lewis. Assistant to the managing director of Waitrose. Set up Harvington Properties, a property development company, he is now a shareholder and a Non Executive Director. Former Managing Director of a firm involved with the development, sales and management of holiday resorts in both the UK and Europe (later sold to a listed American company) (1990-2000). Shareholder and Non Executive Director of Eden Financial (wealth management business located in the City of London).
Personal Overview - Won this seat at the 2010 election with the Conservatives coming from third to take first place here. A long time conservative party member, campaigner and loyalist. He has been active in elections since 1983 in the Hertsmere and latterly Watford area. Appointed a party Treasurer in 2008, he helped launch the Conservative donor No 10 Club with Sir John Major, of which he has been Chairman. He is known to have supported Ken Clarke for the party leadership in 2001 and has been active within the Conservative Friends of Israel as Chairman of their Executive Board. He has had a successful business career, both setting up his own firm Havington Properties with two university friends as well as developing other larger companies. He was also involved in the restoration of one of Glasgows well known hotels 'One Devonshire Gardens'.

Characteristics - Former Fundraising Chairman of the Variety Club Childrens Society (2003-05). Has been a governor of University College School in Hampstead. Has also supported both children's charities and charities for the homeless in Watford.

Previous Occupation - Worked in a school in India at the age of 18, teaching English for 1 year. Worked in a dairy farm in Buckinghamshire for 1 year. Farm Manager in the UK (3 years), worked in South Africa, had several jobs including working for Prudential. Soil and Water Conservation Officer for the Ministry of Agriculture in Rhodesia (1975-76), Rhodesian Army (1975-76). Employed on the family farm (1977-83). Ran the family farming business in Fakenham, Norfolk (1983-).
Personal Overview - Elected to the European Parliament in 2009 from second place on the party list. Experienced farmer who has since 1983 ran his family farm in Norfolk. Has been active within the National Farmers Union in Norfolk for a number of years. He is well travelled, having worked in India, South Africa and Rhodesia (Zimbabwe). Joined UKIP in 1999, dismayed at the way the European Union regulated Farming. Has previously stood as a candidate at both a National and Local level.
