A DOCTOR who was born and grew up in Hillingdon is retiring today after 27 years of caring for his patients.

Dr Haydn Daily-Jones, 59, who lives in Orchard Drive, Cowley, moved to the borough and started a practice on the site of what is now Hillingdon Hospital in 1981, after ten years as a GP in Wales.

He moved his surgery to Church Road, Cowley, before setting up his current practice, Timbers Surgery in St Lawrence Church Hall, in Sheperds Close, around six years ago.

Dr Daily-Jones said: "I will miss the relationship with my patients. It has been a fantastic time, and my staff and patients have been a wonderful bunch.

"I have been located in three different premises and my patients have moved with me."

Gwen Hogan, 55, of Cherry Grove, a patient of Dr Daily-Jones', said: "I am really sad that he is going. He has always been a happy man and my kids loved him.

"All his patients are going to wish him well because he is such a happy soul and will be greatly missed."

As well as continuing to work as a locum, Dr Daily-Jones will still sit as a magistrate, which he started doing two years ago.

Dr Daily-Jones, who has been married to his wife Tracey, 44, for 12 years, a practice nurse at the surgery said he now plans to spend more time with his eight grandchildren.

Born in Deancroft Crescent, Hillingdon, he was a pupil at Oak Farm School in Windsor Avenue, Hillingdon, and went on to Abbotsfield School, in Clifton Gardens, Uxbridge.

we first met Haydn when he was part of a practice in cowley and when he left to form his own practice we followed him to the the portakabin and then to Hillingdon Hospital and finally to the Timbers.
He was more than a doc to our family he became a friend and we were ever so grateful to him at the time when we lost our son Paul as the result of a road accident he went beyond the role of family doctor turning up at 0730 on the morning of the funeral to check that we were all coping with the day. Normal doctors would not do that but he wasn't the normal doctor he went the extra mile for his patients.
The patients of Cowley will miss him.
So we wish him and Tracy all the best for the future.
Good luck to you Hadyn from the McLarnon family now in Lancashire and Lincolnshire.

Dr Daily was truly a fantastic Doctor to me when I was having a very bad time, he will be sadly missed and even though I moved 9 years ago, he still was always there if I needed him. I wish him all the best.
