Barnes re-elected to GLA
Mr Barnes convincingly beat his opponents
Mr Barnes convincingly beat his opponents

The Conservatives have retained the Ealing and Hillingdon seat on the London Assembly.

Richard Barnes won 43.15 per cent of the vote, beating Labour's Ranjit Dheer into second with 26.61 per cent.

Lib Dem Nigel Bakhai came third with 10.4 per cent, rounding off a disappointing night for the party across the capital.

Mr Barnes increased his majority from around 10,000 to 28,638.

Now will someone make this man resign his seat as a councillor in hillingdon.he is getting allowances from Hillingdon and does nothing apart from park his car in the civic centre carpark for free every day while he travels to the GLA.Can ray Puddifoot be so blase with our council tax, that he can afford to pay members of his councillor band for doing nothing. Barnes does nothing.Bamber does nothing.Bartram does nothing relating to council work. The bouncing Kemps do nothing unless it involves a free meal and a chance to pop into their wheelchairs for a photoshoot, then out of them again to run to the next free event. Stone who does little apart from thinking about more devious ways to insult anyone foreign (conveniently forgetting she is from some scandinavian country and foreign herself) then there is Horn the one they all pretend isnt a tory and Kelly his ex wife who wishes she was still a schoolgirl.the makings of a comedy if they were not all taking our council tax to prop up their fantasies.

It may be easy to stand at the side lines and snipe at Councillors or toher politicians but has Harry ever raised his head above the parapet and made a stand to take office and change things he doesn't like. To criticise Councillors who for clear medical reasons require wheelchairs, but who can sometimes be up to walking is pathetic. Who the hell is he to denegrate people living their lives and working hard? Who cares if Cllr Barnes parks at the Civic? He dedicates all he does to his residents, and over 28,000 more of them voted frok him than the loser from Labour. Democracy is a tough lesson but he won fair and square - stop sniping from the sidelines and stad for Council in 2010, or for the GLA in 2012 against Cllr Barnes? You are pathetic and rude about people you make unfounded judgements about. Want to find some worthless imbeciles to criticise locally? Try http://www.hillingdo

rob, one must presume you dont work in or near the civic centre in Uxbridge. If you did you would know about the councillors called kemp, they are a 'standing' joke amongst staff and councillors alike. There is a sweepstake for someone to find out exactly what their'so called'problem is, that manifests itself in the fact that they can both leave their wheelchairs at the same time. What with him being a squadron leader in the RAF and her an olympic swimmer in their previous lives (no laughing, thats what they claim)
A point of information, richard barnes increased his majority by people worn down by the national government, and by racists who would vote for a candidate of asian origin not for his charimsa/charm and sexual prowess.
and as staff at the civic are expected to pay for the parking, then why not richard barnes?

Indeed I do know the Kemps, not well, but I understand that illnesses led to the need for a chair and to criticise someone on the basis of heresay or tittle tattle is wrong. there but for the grqace of God, you should perhaps consider what it would mean for someone to abuse such a position and think whether they actually would - for what gain?
The Labour Government was part of the reason for Cllr Barnes' win, true. But other seats went Labour like Harrow so that is a flawed argument. Also the race card is falwed as the labour canididate in Harrow was Asian and the Tory white, and the Tory lost - flawed argument. Could it not be that Barnes works hard and is popular - he is hardly an evil man, and whilst you may not be a Tory supporter, we can all see he does his work - he is always in the local paper or on TV/Radio. Barnes won because he is good, works hard and appals to people. As for parking at the Civic - get a life. Why should all staff have free parking? Barnes uses it like other Councillors when he attends out of hours meetings and daytime events, as well as going into London on GLA and Council business. If his worse crime is free parking then he really has won the day. If you work at the Civic (and I guess you don't) you should be less inclined to make such malicious accusationa about Councillors - they are only people too and they have rights. Criticise their policies, their actions or the outcomes they develop - not their person. That is weak.

what could the kemps gain? why not ask them? they have shifted from one party to another, they have moved almost as many times as they have changed their names and wheelchair status. Does anyone really know who they actually are? and where they come from?
and as the staff within the council see the real face of councillors I think they are entitled to say what they see. Many staff although at work do not have the concession of free parking, the emphasis is on the word work. Not self promotion.
