Father-of-two was trying to help teen

A HILLINGDON man died in a river after trying to help a 15-year-old police say.

The body of Leonard Woodman, 37, of Ryefield Avenue, was pulled from a weir at Denham Country Park on Saturday by rescue workers.

Thames Valley Police, firefigters from London and Buckinghamshire and paramedics were called to the park at around 7.30pm after Mr Woodman disappeared after entering the water.

Police have revealed today that the father-of-two was walking in the park with his family and dogs, when he spotted the teenager in difficulty.

He immediately went to her assistance.

Rescue workers found his body at around 9pm.

The 15-year-old was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

She was part of a group of six children who had spent the day at the park.

An inquest was opened into Mr Woodman's death and has been adjourned by the Coroner for Buckinghamshire.

lenny was such a nice feller would help any one in anyway he could.so sad he gave is life doing so,he will be sadly missed a true hearo dont let his life go in vain,to you lenny thanks for nowing you.
