Dowie ready for challenge

Queens Park Rangers' new first team coach Iain Dowie has promised to deliver stylish success next season.
The former Crystal Palace and Coventry City manager was unveiled this week and his backroom staff were announced.
Tim Flowers, the former England goalkeeper, has been reunited with Dowie after working with him at the Ricoh Arena. He will reprise his role as assistant manager and popular midfielder Gareth Ainsworth has been handed a player-coach position.
The club captain was increasingly involved on the touchline in former manager Luigi De Canio's final months in charge last season.
Dowie, the surprise appointment at Loftus Road, said: "It is a great challenge. There is no question there are Premier League sides QPR can compete with. I'm very excited about this opportunity.
"My job is to bring smiles to QPR. They (the fans) want to win but they also want to win playing stylish football. I will be judged on that. My way is to get the ball down and pass it."
Dowie accepts he is under more pressure to deliver than ever before in his managerial career, with expectation levels at Rangers rising all the time. The side is one of the favourites for promotion already and Dowie cannot expect to have limitless time to hone his team.
With the backing of the Mittals, Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone, he will be expected to splash the cash. But Dowie insists there will not be radical changes.
"The squad doesn't need a massive amount of alteration" Dowie said. "There are one or two areas which need strengthening but the squad already has some A list players.
"We are going to look for hungry players who want to work hard. It is about getting a balance."
Flowers said: "I'm delighted to be here to assist Iain. I like the look of this squad and I'm very optimistic about next season."
