THE centre of Uxbridge has been reopened after a man who was threatening to jump from the top of a car park was talked down.

Roads around the town centre were closed off for nearly eight hours after the man, believed to be around 30-years-old, was spotted standing on the top of the Cedars car park.

Motorists were trapped in the car park for several hours after police closed off the exit ramp, because the man was standing on the eighth floor, directly above it.

Police negotiators eventually managed to talk the man down just before 1am, and the town centre has since been reopened.

Were you stuck in the car park last night? Leave your comments below.

I think we all got a bit too far with all this nonsense.

We spent so much resources trying to stop a man who wants to commit suicide. (which, by the way, he might just go up the roof again today or the next day ...)
And we penalise so many other people who value their lives more, and want to get on with their lives. Mothers can't get home to pick up their kids, p[eople might miss their flight to go to their parents funeral or their baby brother''s wedding.

If people want tio kill themselves, let them. If the people wants to help, go ahead and help but you don't have to close the whole town for that!

if he was gunna jump, he would of straight away. i think all he wanted was attention, and if he did fall, his bad.

The police refused me entry into the Exchange last as the said person was in exchange. They obviously do not know one building from the other.

Well I would like to congratulate the emergency services for rescuing a desperate man. Sometimes when things go wrong in our lives, we can often feel that the whole world is against us. In some cases people genuinely feel that they have no where to turn and they need to be shown that there is help and understanding out there. But often in time of need we often feel that we are worthless and not worthy of help.

Once again I would like to congratulate the emergency services for saving a life.

I went for a walk with my husband last night and could tell that there was a commotion, so naturally looked and was shocked at this poor person and how they must have felt.

How ever i am appauled and disgraced at the teenagers thinking it was funny to shout at him to Jump, do that not understand that that man is someones brother, someones son and possibly someones dad. Teenagers do not understand the stresses and trials in life an I hope when they feel that the end of the road is near and go upto the top of a building to take their own life, they dont have idiots shouting jump at them.

Yeah, lots of people feel like that at some point in their life. Its not nice but 8 hours, c'mon! The cops should have used the sniper rifle and commandeered a shovel from Wickes.
