A STRETCH of the Grand Union Canal popular with commuters will be closed while works take place.

The towpath between Ruislip Road Bridge and foot bridge will be closed from Monday, July 14 until Friday, August 29.

Work to upgrade the path will be carried out by British Waterways and a 400 metre stretch will be re-surfaced.

British Waterways has said it carried out consultations with the public. Feedback included a need for re-surfacing.

Signs will be displayed in the area to redirect pedestrians and cyclists around the diversion while the works take place.

Sam Thomas, waterway supervisor, said: "Working with the Grand Union Canal Village, we are pleased to see that the towpath surface near Ruislip Road Bridge will be improved, providing better surface for walkers and cyclists.

"I'd like to thank users for their patience while the works are completed."

Great, but, 7 weeks!! My mate Onya Bakubitch said he'd do it in a weekend for £500, cash.
