A YOUNG Uxbridge man who struggled to find work has set up his own franchise business.

Richard Charalambides, 22, is less than half the age of the typical franchisee.

He now owns and operates Ovenu, the Uxbridge-based valeting business, which he set up after struggling to find permanent full-time work.

Richard said: “The support and strength of the network of franchisees is vitally important for anyone starting out in business, especially in tough economic times.”

He said that, in today’s tough economic climate, more young people should consider setting up their own franchise business.

He added: “I enjoyed the comprehensive training that Ovenu gave me and, while it’s still early days yet, I’m really enjoying running my own business.”

Typical franchisees are aged 49, according to a Natwest survey.

Richard’s Ovenu business is part of a UK-wide franchise operation made up of more than 100 UK franchisees.

Ovenu Uxbridge provides an environmentally-friendly oven cleaning service to homes and businesses across Hillingdon.
