Enfield teenager Teta Dieudonne was given a tennis masterclass from three-time Wimbledon champion Boris Becker and Andy Murray's former coach Mark Petchey in her bid to become a Barclays Ball Kid.

The 13-year-old Tennis Avenue Academy pupil was one of 100 youngsters to be given expert tuition from Becker and Petchey at the Barclays Ball Kids National Trials at The Riverside Northwood Health and Racquets Club.

Up for grabs is the prize of appearing on court alongside Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and British number one Andy Murray at the O2 Arena as one of 30 ball kids for the ATP World Tour Finals in November.

Former St Anne’s Catholic High School pupil Dieudonne demonstrated her talent in front of Becker and Murray’s former coach and admitted it would be a dream come true to rub shoulders with the likes of Federer and Nadal.

She said: “I don’t think I could pinpoint one highlight of the process as it’s been such good fun and a great experience.

“It would be absolutely amazing to be selected and I’d be so happy.

"Its mind-blowing to think that you could be on court with the top eight players in the world.

“This is the third time I have trialled and I think my fitness and hand-eye co-ordination has definitely improved.”

The nationwide Barclays Ball Kids search began in January. Becker, who along with Petchey will select the lucky winners, believes the lucky 30 are in for a treat they will never forget if they reach the O2.

He said: “It’s a great opportunity for these kids to get involved with the best tennis players in the world.

“It’s quite an achievement to get picked out of thousands of kids from around the whole country.

“To be selected as the top 30 they really have to be good and I hear from the head coach that this year the standard was even better than ever.”
