TWO Hillingdon youngsters have proven their culinary talents to be named Rotary Club Young Chef of the Year.
Senior winner Michael Farr, of Harefield Academy, impressed with his poached pear and rump steak creation, while Alejandra Correa, of Bishopshalt, Hillingdon, received praise for her oven-baked salmon recipe.
Both students will now progress to the regional final in Bracknell later this month.
Ten of the borough’s secondary schools entered the annual competition, which this year required pupils to produce a healthy two-course meal on a £10 budget.
Tom Dunn, health promotion officer, said: “The ability to cook is an important life skill and making your own food is a cornerstone for eating sensible and healthily.”
