ASPIRING photographers are being encouraged to take part in Hillingdon Council’s annual competition to showcase the borough’s parks and open spaces.

Hillingdon has a wealth of parks and open spaces, with more land under Green Flag status than any other London borough.

The council would like residents and visitors to capture their favourite spots on camera this summer and enter the competition. The closing date is end of July.

Winners will be announced at the Hillingdon In Bloom prizegiving in September.

There are two categories; 16 and under, and adults. The competition will be judged by green spaces manager Paul Richards and photography lecturer for adult education service, Jean-Marc Teychenne.

Photographs will be judged on composition, lighting, originality and creativity The winner from each category will receive their photo reproduced and enlarged on a canvas, courtesy of Kodak Express, High Street, Ruislip.

Email your pictures to vadams@hillingdon.gov.uk with ‘Summer snaps’ in the subject heading.

All submissions must be in .jpg format and no larger than 1.5Mb in filesize, with a minimum height of 250 pixels and minimum width of 250 pixels.

All images should be accompanied by a short caption, including where and when the picture was taken.

Pictures of the borough's allotments will also be accepted in the competition.
