MORRISONS is trialling its online shopping service across most of Hillingdon from today (Monday).

The initiative has allowed partners Ocado to create 50 new jobs.

Almost 400,000 households across the Watford, Harrow, Ruislip, Hillingdon, Ealing and Hounslow areas will now able to shop online for the first time from http://www.morrisons.com/

Simon Thompson, managing director for online food at Morrisons, said: “It’s an exciting time as we look to move into London. We’re hoping this initial launch will help us determine how and when we can offer the service to even more of our customers in the capital.”

Morrisons online delivery service made its debut in the Midlands in January and extended into Yorkshire the following month.

As it now branches into Hillingdon, the supermarket will be looking to maintain its claimed 95% success rate for delivering on time and product substitution rate of less than 2%.

All delivery slots across the area will be made available for just £1 for the first month, and Hillingdon customers can expect one-hour time slots and the opportunity to check the freshness of products before accepting them.

If you live in Hillingdon, visit www.morrisons.com to see if your home is located within the serviced area.
