TWO dedicated milkmen will retire this weekend after a collective 61 years.

David Mustoe, 62, and Adrian Pledger, 66 have served the Hillingdon community - going over and above the duties expected of them.

Since 1973, David has served Northwood Moor Park, while Adrian has been delivering fresh milk to customers in Pinner, Northwood Hills and Harefield since 1995.

It is turning out to be an eventful year for David, of South Ruislip, who celebrated his ruby wedding anniversary with wife Linda earlier this month.

He said: “I have enjoyed being part of the community. I will sincerely miss my customers, some of whose families I have been serving for three generations!”

He added: “The early starts never troubled me. However, I am looking forward to retiring and spending more time with my three children and six grandchildren.”

Ickenham-based Adrian is a father of two and grandfather of four. After 12 years of service, he says he is ready to retire.

He said: “I was a milkman before working for Dairy Crest so, in total, I’ve spent 38 years getting up early six days a week. Now, it is time to enjoy lie-ins and spending time with my family.”

Having gone past retirement age, he wants to enjoy holidays and long weekends away.

David has been Father Christmas at the Sunshine Variety House Christmas party.

Darren Moggridge, depot manager at Hillingdon, said: “Both David and Adrian have been fantastic characters to have around the depot and have provided important support to all their customers.”

David’s customers will now be served by George Devoy in Northwood Moor Park, while Sairas Deboo will be looking after Adrian’s customers from Monday.
