PARENTS and children now have their own place to socialise after Northwood Parish Hall received funding from a community grant scheme.

The parish hall, which belongs to Holy Trinity Church, received a £950 grant from Coalfields Community Grants scheme, which was put towards a tots and carers group.

Following the purchase of play equipment and educational toys, Little Ducks is now a lively group for parents and babies, with more than 20 mums and dads meeting each week.

Nick Broad, coordinator of the tots and carers group, said: “The Little Ducks group encourages social involvement. It is inclusive and, most importantly, fun.”

The group meets every Monday during term time between 9.15 and 10.45am and is now considered a valuable resource for parents.

Emma Grundy, a parent and member of Little Ducks, said: “My little girl has learnt to bum shuffle and loves moving around and playing with the toys.

“Little Ducks is really helping her to interact with other children, and I get to meet other parents and make friends.”
