THE Swakeleys Shield for 2014 was awarded to Doug Neilson and Rose Bennett during the open gardens event in the Ickenham Festival.
The shield is given to those who have made a special contribution in the spirit of the festival and to the community at large.
The citation reads, in part: “Doug Neilson has served as Ickenham Festival vice-chair and team member for many years, with particular responsibility for communications.
"Rose Bennett has been a loyal supporter of the festival and other Ickenham organisations including the horticultural society, Fairtrade and Friends of the Earth.”
The shield is currently on display, with the citation, in Ickenham Library.
