THE sun came out for the Michael Sobell Hospice Vintage Affair on Sunday.

The day began with the sounds of the Stardust Big Band and visitors were able to see a display of classic cars from Uxbridge and District Classic Vehicle Society and a host of stalls selling vintage clothes, jewellery, china and lavender.

The event raised more than £4,000, which will go directly towards patient care at the hospice in Northwood.

In the morning, visitors enjoyed homemade cakes and tea while listening to music from Double Vision Duo, and the children danced along with Jimmy Jam Tots Bear from the Windmill Studios in Ruislip.

In the afternoon, the MSH Vintage Tea Rooms were opened and guests were served a full afternoon tea with bubbly and treated to the sounds of the Tony Oliver Jazz Band, Rock Chorus Choir and a performance from Jiveswing.com.

Beverley Garber, a volunteer at Michael Sobell, who organised the event for the fourth year, said: “All the cakes were made by volunteers and the entertainment was freely given.

"I think everyone is aware of the wonderful care the hospice provides to local people and they just want to contribute in some way towards it.”
