THE latest British Airways Carbon Fund Project was unveiled today at Harmondsworth Primary School.
The project, the ninth to be supported by the Carbon Fund, gives the school funds to instal a series of solar panels and efficient LED lighting, to reduce energy bills and its carbon footprint. It is estimated they will save the school more than £2,000 per year.
Harmondsworth Primary is just a few minutes from BA’s Waterside headquarters, where its pupils are regular visitors to the airline’s Community Learning Centre.
Head teacher Eleesa Dowding said: “This not only saves the school money but helps children to understand practical ways to reduce our impact on the environment.”
Keith Williams, BA executive chairman, who made the presentation, said: “We hope this will help the school in its quest to gain a Green Flag Award.”
