THOUSANDS of people are expected to step back in time at Hillingdon Council’s Medieval Festival on Sunday, August 17.

The popular free event will take place at the Manor Farm site in Pinn Way, Ruislip from 11am-4pm.

There will be a programme of historical re-enactments, including horse-back jousting, a medieval jester, knights in combat and a medieval encampment in the orchard.

The encampment will allow residents the opportunity to experience a medieval-style village first hand, with a wise woman, a surgeon's tent and medieval-style cooking.

Other highlights will include a hog roast, music and dancing displays.

The historic Great Barn will offer a range of arts and crafts activities, courtesy of Hillingdon Adult Education, with additional food, a farmer's market and artisan stalls provided by the site's regular Duck Pond Market.

Cllr Douglas Mills, cabinet member for community, said: “"MedFest is a wonderful way to celebrate Hillingdon’s history. There is always a great atmosphere at the festival, which has something to offer residents of all ages.”
