AN outstanding 100% pass rate and a higher number of A* grades than ever before were reported by the independent Northwood School for Girls.

More than 75% of grades were A*-B and more than 90% were A*-C. A total of 42% achieved at least two A*-A grades and 22% received three or more.

Headmistress Jacqualyn Pain commented: “The results are a true testament to the phenomenal hard work and dedication that is demonstrated year after year by our pupils and their outstanding teachers.

“Based on today’s excellent results we anticipate that by far the majority of our students will go on to their first-choice universities.”

Former deputy head girl Aimee Ross, from Hayes, achieved four A* grades and is looking forward to reading physics at Oxford. Aimee said: “My dream job would be a physics researcher.”

Lucy Clague, from Harrow, gained three A* grades and will be reading economics at Nottingham. She said: "I would like to thank all my teachers for their dedication and hard work."

Eleanor McCartney, from Pinner, achieved three A* grades and will be going Oxford to study biological sciences. Eleanor said: “I am so relieved that all the hard work has paid off.”

Ashni Malhotra, from Ruislip, gained two A* grades and 2 As and is set to study medicine at Imperial College London. Ashni’s proud father, Malhotra, said: “Ashni has been at Northwood College since she was two and a half and the hard work of the school’s staff is a major contribution to her success.”

Joanna Horsley, from Ealing, had two A* and one A grade and is planning to study history at Exeter. She said: “I want to thank my teachers for all their extra efforts.”

Miss Pain added: ‘I believe these great results are due to the fact that our team of specialist and experienced educators identify the individual strengths of each girl and work towards developing her raw talents by supporting, enthusing and challenging each step of the way.”

Over the years, our unique enrichment and thinking skills programmes equip the girls with a comprehensive understanding of their own strengths and weaknesses, encourage them out of their intellectual comfort zone and provide them with the tools and techniques to face any situation with confidence and self-assertiveness.

We also work hard to instil our students with a love of learning, which we are confident plays a pivotal role in inspiring and driving them to exceed all expectations and truly flourish.”

Northwood College joined the UK’s leading network of independent girls’ schools, the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) in November 2013 and this September will see the school merge with Heathfield School for Girls.

There has been much activity during the summer holiday at the Northwood campus to ensure that the girls return in September to new classrooms, IT systems and facilities – all designed to provide the ultimate learning environment.

Miss Pain comments: “The GDST is committed to ensure that its 24 schools and two academies are equipped with the best teachers, resources and facilities. Becoming a member of the GDST means that our teachers will benefit from the most up to date educational resources and that our girls will have the opportunity to participate in a host of GDST learning initiatives and become involved in a spectrum of scholarships and prizes.” She concluded: “We will miss our Year 13 but I am delighted that they now join the GDST alumnae which will provide them with a platform to communicate with past and present GDST students from a diverse range of industries and environments.
