An Uxbridge College apprentice was honoured for his achievements with an Apprenticeship Award from his employer Ultra Electronics.

Lakjit Chand, who works at the company’s Sonar Systems section in Greenford and who has completed a Technical Apprenticeship, was presented with a certificate, desk trophy and specialised Cross pen by Ross Parsell, Managing Director of Sonar Systems. The award was given in recognition of Lakjit’s achievements and commitment to his career development, as part of Ultra’s company-wide commitment to supporting and developing its Apprentices. Lakjit, who trained on the job at Sonar Systems with day release at Uxbridge College, has now been taken on staff full-time as a Design For Manufacture Technician.

Mr Parsell said: “I am delighted to present this award, as it is the culmination of Lakjit’s hard work and commitment to his future career development at Ultra. He is an excellent example of how well Apprenticeships in action can work and Sonar Systems are proud to undertake and continue to support Ultra’s Apprenticeship Award programme”.

Jo Withers, Director of Employment and Skills at Uxbridge College, said: “We were delighted to see Lakjit graduate at Ultra Electronics Apprenticeship Awards in recognition of his achievements. Apprenticeships are a brilliant way for employers to work in partnership with organisations such as Uxbridge College to shape their people in the way they want while ensuring individuals achieve a recognised qualification. Congratulations to everyone involved.”

Keith Thomson, Ultra Electronics Human Resources Director who also attended the event offered his congratulations commenting: “Ultra continues to welcome applications for Apprenticeship Placements at its sites in Greenford and Weymouth as we prepare for the future skills required by the business to continue Ultra’s success and growth”.
