A WOMAN was fined for fraudulently using her mother-in-law's blue badge, following a crackdown by Hillingdon Council.
Kellie Adamberry, of Denham, pleaded guilty by post and the matter was heard at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on Tuesday. She was fined £80, and ordered to pay the council's legal costs of £383.
The council's corporate fraud team had been carrying out blue badge inspections in Uxbridge on July 31 when an officer spotted Mrs Adamberry parking a Land Rover in a disabled bay.
She was asked to present her blue badge for inspection, which she handed over and said belonged to her mother-in-law, who was not with her.
Cllr Jonathan Bianco, cabinet member for finance, said: "Deliberate misuse of a blue badge will not be tolerated. These people are taking parking spaces away from those in genuine need of them just to dodge paying a parking charge."
