THE owner of a chihuahua is heartbroken after her dog went missing from her home in Hillingdon.

The dog, named Phoebe, was last seen on September 25 2012 and nothing has been heard of her since.

A white unmarked van was seen parked outside the house the day she disappeared.

Phoebe was wearing a pink collar and a distinctive pink coat. She has also been chipped.

The owner, Vanessa Benaim, who is in her 70s, is said to be completely devastated by her loss.

Mia Buckton, who is involved with the campaign to find Phoebe and also runs the twitter feed @MissingPetsGB, says it is very unusual for a pet to go missing without a trace. It leads her to believe the dog has been stolen.

She thinks Phoebe may have been sold on and could be anywhere in the country now.

Despite the two years that have passed, campaigners remain hopeful that Phoebe can be reunited with her owner.

Mia says she knows of cases where pets have been reunited with their owners after as long as nine years. The momentum of the campaign shows no signs of slowing.

The twitter feed @find_phoebe has nearly 5,000 followers and Mia said: “Every day, someone sends out a tweet. It is really quite phenomenal.”

Anyone who thinks they might have spotted Phoebe, or wants to help find her, should tweet @find_phoebe Hillingdon Times readers are being asked to keep a look-out for a missing Chihuahua named Pheobe.
