NELLIE MOORE turns 105 next Tuesday, prompting speculation that she could be the oldest person in Northwood and perhaps even in the borough.

Mrs Moore (née Angel), who has been at Erskine Hall care centre for four years, was born in Battersea on November 18, 1909, the same year as construction of the Titanic began.

A grandmother to five and great-grandmother to eight, Mrs Moore has seen Queen Elizabeth II ascend the throne and witnessed two world wars in her lifetime.

Her son Roy, 82, said: “It has been suggested to me that my mother may very well be the oldest person in Northwood.

“She is still as bright as a button, although her sight has deserted her.”

Mrs Moore has outlived all three of her brothers, including Ernie and Arthur, who were younger than her.

After marrying wartime camouflage painter Alfred Moore on December 6, 1931 and having son Roy in 1932, the couple settled in Uxbridge Road, Feltham the following year.

They welcomed daughter Audrey in 1934 and moved to a house at the top of Kingston Hill in 1947.

We are appealing to all residents of Northwood and Hillingdon to get in touch if you know of or have a living relative who is older than 105.

The oldest living person recorded closest to Hillingdon is 108-year-old Jack Ovens, who lives in Richmond. Mr Ovens currently sits at number 52 of the oldest people in Britain, according to website oldestinbritain.nfshost.com Mrs Moore will be less than a decade shy of the oldest living person in the UK, 114-year-old supercentenarian Ethel Lang (née Lancaster) of Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

Leandra Becerra, who turned 127 on August 31 in Mexico, is thought to be the oldest living person in the world, though her birth certificate has never been produced.
