AN EXHIBITION of artwork inspired by an RAF airwoman's experience of serving her country is being held at the Cow Byre Gallery at the Manor Farm site in Ruislip.
Sara Waymont served in the RAF Auxiliary Forces and was deployed to Afghanistan earlier this year.
Her exhibition, The Last Tour, features photographs, journal entries, sketches and paintings. Hillingdon Council is supporting the exhibition, which is from next Monday to Saturday.
Cllr Douglas Mills, cabinet member for community, Commerce, said: "In the centenary year of the start of the First World War and in the month of Remembrance Day, it is fitting that residents have the chance to gain perspective on contemporary military life at this special exhibition."
Entry is free, but on Thursday there will be a charity reception in the Stables at Manor Farm to raise money for the Royal British Legion.
Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artist and learn more about her experiences in Afghanistan, as well as participating in a silent auction for her artworks.
Tickets for the charity reception cost £5. All proceeds from the event and any painting sales will be donated to the RAF Benevolent Fund and the Royal British Legion.
The ticket price includes refreshments and a complimentary glass of wine. To book, e-mail cbaldwin@hillingdon.gov.uk or call 01895 558199.
