IF you're retired, looking for a new interest or want to meet new friends, Hillingdon Adult Learning is inviting people to join its basic floristry course for over-60s.

The course is aimed at those with little experience of floristry and will cover the basics from conditioning plant material to how to design and create stunning displays.

Ruislip Manor Library and Resource Centre hosts the course, which starts on January 15 and lasts for five weeks.

Cllr David Simmonds, Cabinet Member for Education, said: "Our over 60s courses not only improve skills and expand interests but are also a great way to meet new people.”

The council offers a range of courses designed for those over 60 as part of its Adult Learning programme.

The pace of the courses and activities are tailored to the needs of older learners. Subjects include painting and drawing, beginners IT, yoga and singing.
