A NEW Tesco store at Hillingdon Circus will still go ahead, despite the company’s plans to shelve the opening of other proposed stores.
Dave Lewis, Chief Executive Officer, said it would provide a valued service to the community on the former Master Brewer site.
He added: “It will provide a great shopping experience as well as bringing new jobs and investment to the area.”
Tesco this week announced it is to close 43 stores across the country after a dip in sales of 2.9% nationally in the past 19 weeks..
A petition was raised in Hillingdon in the summer against the size of the Master Brewer development, which also included a hotel and housing.
Mr Lewis said he was not able to confirm an opening date for the Hillingdon Circus store but would keep shoppers updated.
