FOR its Spring concert at All Saints Church, Ryefield Avenue, the Hillingdon Philharmonic Orchestra will present works from two great composers as part of its 29th season.

Supporters and music lovers are invited for an evening filled with music from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Felix Mendelssohn.

The concert will begin in gloriously high spirits with Mozart’s popular Overture to The Marriage of Figaro. It will be the perfect curtain-raiser to the two major works to be performed.

The first of these will be Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp K. 299. For this, the orchestra is joined by soloists Anastasia Arnold on flute and Ruby Aspinall on harp.

Both frequently perform at London’s most prestigious concert halls and also abroad as soloists and orchestral musicians.

The second (and final) major work to be performed as part of the concert will be Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.4 Op.90 in A major (Italian).

Considered by many to be a musical postcard home from Italy during the young composer’s first European tour, the work was intended to evoke the sights and sounds of the country.

It is a sunny, glittering work which captures the composer’s feelings and impressions as he encountered the landscape, art and people of Italy.

The Hillingdon Philharmonic is now well established with more than 60 members, having performed a wide repertoire of work over the years.

It has also performed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Southwark Cathedral. In July 2011, the group celebrated 25 years of music-making at the Cadogan Hall in Sloane Square.

An evening with Mozart and Mendelssohn will be led by Mackenzie Richards and conducted by the founder of the Orchestra, Peter J. Williams.
