WITNESSES are being sought following a collision on the A40 this morning (Thursday).
Officers were called at approx 4.05am to reports of a crash involving a lorry and a van westbound between the Polish War Memorial and Hillingdon Circus.
The van driver is in central London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
It is understood the van was hit the rear of the lorry.
Road closures were put in place while the scene was dealt with and the road has since reopened.
The lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Police would especially like to hear from anyone who may have seen the lorry travelling westbound on A40 between the Polish War Memorial and Hillingdon Circus before the collision happened.
