PASSENGERS with mobility issues who use Transport for London’s Dial-a-Ride service to make trips to and from Uxbridge town centre now have use of a dedicated stop in George Street.
Hillingdon and TfL worked to identify a suitable location for Dial-a-Ride vehicles to drop off and pick up elderly and disabled residents visiting the town centre for shopping, entertainment or to meet friends.
The new stop, behind the intu Uxbridge Shopping Centre (formerly know as The Chimes) and close to Uxbridge Health Centre, is the third of its type in the capital.
Hillingdon has installed a bench to make any wait more comfortable, and the stop can also be used by community transport operators.
Cllr Keith Burrows, cabinet member for transport at Hillingdon, said: "TfL's Dial-a-Ride service is a lifeline for Hillingdon residents with mobility issues as it helps them to remain independent.”
