School pupils impress MP

CHILDREN at an after-school club showed off their talents to MP John McDonnell when he joined them for an afternoon.
The club, at Woodend Park School, provides before and after school care, where children can get extra support with numeracy and literacy, as well as learning arts and crafts and drama.
Mr McDonnell said: "The Schoolfriend Club at Woodend School is clearly delivering an important service to the local community, meeting the needs of both parents and pupils.
"I was very impressed at the standard and breadth of activities taking place.
"Not only do they ensure that the children have fun, but they also help them to improve their numeracy and literacy."
