BUDDING entrepreneurs from St Helen’s School, Northwood, are celebrating after winning the top awards in the Hertfordshire round of the 2015 Young Enterprise Company contest.

The sixth-form students set up their Young Enterprise team, Orenda, in November and have already enjoyed steady sales of their drinks bottles to the public online, as well as at several fairs, including St Helen’s School Christmas charity fair and at intu Watford’s annual trade fair.

Spurred on by their qualifying success at the Watford area finals in March, the students battled against eight other schools at the county finals last week.

The team won Most Innovative Product and Best Company of the Year 2015 for their Sip’O’Snack bottles, which feature a unique snack container attached to a re-usable drinks bottle with flip lid.

Orenda impressed the judges with their enthusiastic attitude, sophisticated presentation and overall standard of the product.

The next round in June will be held at Cambridge University, and the overall winning team of that stage will win a place in the UK Final on July 2 in London.

Mary Short, headmistress of St Helen’s, said the team had shown the teamwork, innovation and perseverance of true entrepreneurs.
