THE popular Duck Pond Market is taking part in the Love Your Local Market 2015 campaign.

It is joined more than 1,000 markets across the country in an initiative run by the National Association of British Market Authorities.

Duck Pond celebrated all that is good about local markets at its Ruislip and Richmond Artisan Food and Craft Markets on Sunday.

As a treat, the Ruislip stallholders and customers were surprised by a Sling Swing Flash Mob, with a dozen mothers dancing to their favourite tracks from dance classes with their babies on their fronts or backs in slings and carriers.

The mob was organised by Sling Swing North West London and Hillingdon Breastfeeding support project, who have a regular stall.

Started in 2012 amid fears around the sustainability of our nation’s high streets, Love Your Local Market has involved more than 11,000 events.

This year, Duck Pond signed up to highlight the importance a market plays at the heart of the community.

Food producers, independent business people, artists, designers and crafts people can apply to become stallholders.

Duck Pond regular Philip Harrison said: “The market has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and always makes for a great family day out.”

Duck Pond Foodies Market is held on the first Sunday of each month at Manor Farm in Ruislip from 10am-2pm. Duck Pond Artisan Food & Craft Market is held on the third Sunday of each month at Manor Farm, 10am-3pm.
