RUNNING high-speed trains through a tunnel under Ickenham and the Colne Valley was the main request in Hillingdon Council’s latest submission to the HS2 select committee in Parliament.
The HS2 Bill currently envisages the line continuing above ground from Ickenham High Road.
Cllr Ray Puddifoot, leader of Hillingdon Council, said, the borough had used its extensive knowledge of the area and a strong understanding of people’s concerns about the construction and operation of HS2 between central London and Birmingham.
Harefield residents petitioned the HS2 select committee in March, while those in Ickenham and Ruislip will also present their petitions.
If the select committee chooses to make changes to the HS2 Bill or takes further action as a result of hearing petitions, it will make a public announcement.
