NORTHWOOD school boy Shaan Sethi, a winner of the Living Streets’ Walk Once a Week badge design competition, received his prize in London this week.
Shaan, 7, collected a trophy for designing a collectable badge, which will be used to encourage children to walk to school.
His colourful design of a tiger was one of 11 chosen from 120,000 entries on this year’s theme, Our Healthy Planet.
Shaan, who attends Frithwood Primary School in Carew Road, said: “I’ve drawn a wild tiger because they are endangered and, if we don’t help them, they will be extinct.”
His design will become one of the monthly badges, made from recycled yoghurt pot material, for the UK–wide Walk Once a Week scheme in 2015-16.
They will be awarded to children who take part in the scheme. Around 300,000 are distributed each month.
Living Streets regional director for London, Jack Skillen, said: “ Shaan’s badge will be used in schools in Hillingdon and throughout the UK. He should be very proud.”
