CHILDREN in Hillingdon can discover the wonder of stories in a unique way, thanks to Story Camp, which will be touring the borough this summer.
The camp is made up of three light and airy tents, shaped like giant books, and a travelling stage.
It serves as a welcoming venue for children to gather and take part in inter-active storytelling sessions during July, August and September.
Cllr Douglas Mills, cabinet member for community, said: "As the Story Camp tours every Hillingdon library this summer, families will be able to hear stories, poetry and join in activities presented by professional storytellers, authors and trained library staff.
“The beauty of the camp is that it can be used for larger events or reduced in size for smaller performances."
Story Camp, a council initiative, will be at Pinn Meadows, part of the Manor Farm site in Ruislip, tomorrow (Wednesday, July 8) from 4.30-5.30pm, when performance poet John Hegley promises to have his audience in stitches with comic poetry and plenty of audience participation.
Parents can look out for Story Camp at their local library, at Hayes Carnival and Medfest. For more details of the tour, visit www.hillingdon.gov.uk/storycamp
