DOGS Trust in Uxbridge is appealing to dog loving rugby fans to ‘try’ and help find homes for a litter of four-legged furry rugby fans.

The rehoming centre is keen to spur on the national team during the Rugby World Cup so have named a bouncy scrummage of six adorable puppies after their English heroes.

The twelve-week-old leggy Lurchers and German Shepherds are called Doggy May, Sam Furgess, Chris Robpaw, James Haskennel, Joe Launchbury-a bone and Panthony Watson.

England winger Jonny May said: “As a big dog fan I am very happy to have these little guys supporting us.

“I hope they find homes soon and they bring us luck in the tournament.”

The puppies were handed into Dogs Trust Harefield when their owners were no longer able to care for them.

Staff have mocked up a mini pitch for the squad to bound around, and while they may not be heading to Twickenham this autumn, the playful pups cannot resist bounding after a ball.

Richard Moore, manager of Dogs Trust Harefield Rehoming Centre, said: “These mischievous little pups are full of energy so will need active owners with a strong throw to keep them entertained.

“They are still very young and like any rugby team would benefit from a little extra training. “The team requires active homes with owners who appreciate the demands of young puppies and are at home most of the day to help them settle in.

“They would need homes with secure gardens to bound around in and would of course love a rugby ball to play with.

“They are fantastic little dogs who would make the perfect pets in the right homes with committed owners who appreciate a dog is for life not just for the World Cup.”
