BUDDING dancers in Hillingdon are invited to audition for the iconic role of the Oompa-Loompas to perform on the West End.

The award-winning production of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, directed by Sam Mendes, is holding open auditions for the first time ever.

Performers are invited to attend a day of auditions for the 2016-17 West End Company later this month at The Dominion Theatre on Tottenham Court Road.

The creative team wants technically strong dancers, highly skilled in a range of styles including ballet, street, hip-hop, disco and tap.

Resident choreographer Chris Piper said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for performers to appear onstage as an Oompa-Loompa, one of Dahl’s most recognisable characters.

“We’re searching for dancers with exceptional technical and performance skills who can embody their cheeky personality and entertain our audiences night after night.”

The musical, which won two Olivier awards in April 2014, has broken records at the Theatre Royal on Drury Lane, where it has been seen by more than 1.5million people since opening in June 2013 and is currently taking bookings until June 4, 2016.

The team will also be looking out for performers with excellent facial and character skills.

Auditionees must be 18 or over and have a playing age of 18-early 30s and measure 5ft 1 - 5ft 8 if female or 5ft 6 - 6ft if male.

They should bring tight fitting dance clothes, ballet shoes, trainers and kneepads as well as a CV and headshot stapled together.

Auditions will be held on Monday October 26 and start at 10am for women and 2pm for men.
