TALENTED young bands from Greater London’s largest contemporary music school The Rock Project brought the audience to their feet when they performed in Ickenham.

Forty members of The Rock Project, which has music schools at Nower Hill High School in Pinner and Vyners School Academy Trust in Ickenham, performed their first end-of-year gig at Ickenham Village Hall.

Pritpal Chitroda who runs the schools said: “We are all absolutely overjoyed by the incredible amount of positive feedback and reviews we’ve had from all the parents and friends who attended our first public performance.

“It was absolutely superb and the hall was filled to capacity so the atmosphere was just fantastic.

“The students were amazing and none of us dreamt our first year would end on such a high point. We can’t wait for the next season to begin!”

Youngsters aged 7-18 years old formed groups and played a mixture of almost 20 pop and rock anthems ranging from Guns & Roses, Green Day, Bon Jovi and Survivor’s classic Eye of the Tiger.

Awards were presented to junior and senior school quiz teams.

Student of the Year Award for junior group went to Oscar Baran of the Ickenham school and for the Pinner school the winner was Udayasree Gullappali.

For the senior sessions the winners were Connor Beattie from Ickenham and Emily Mullin from Pinner.

The Rock Project offers young people tuition in drums, bass, guitar and vocals, while being tutored by professional, working musicians.
