Virgin Media has unveiled that Denham and Farnham Common will be amongst the next 30 communities to benefit from an ultrafast broadband and entertainment boost this year as part of its £3bn network expansion across the UK.

Earlier this year, Virgin Media launched its ‘Supercharging Local Communities’ initiative - urging local residents and businesses to vote for their community to be next to benefit from the scheme and influence the decision on where to extend its network to.

Homes and businesses across the country have been campaigning locally for Virgin Media to connect their street, with votes cast between 29 February and 30 June via the Cable My Street website.

Residents and businesses with the Buckinghamshire villages who take our services will be connected with fibre broadband run directly to their premise offering ultrafast, future-proof connectivity with download speeds of up to 200Mbps. Plus, the latest entertainment with up to 260 TV channels, including 66 HD channels as well as access to Sky Sports, Sky Movies and BT Sport, and an extensive TV on demand library of exclusive shows, box sets and movies.

Neil Bartholomew, executive director at Virgin Media, said: “We are delighted to be supercharging these Buckinghamshire villages, it shows that ultrafast broadband and top-notch TV isn’t just for big cities. We have been overwhelmed by the response from the local communities and as a result we have decided to speed up our network expansion plans, to connect the communities by spring 2017.”

Buckinghamshire County Council leader Martin Tett, said: "High speed broadband is a modern life essential, not a luxury, for every resident and business. That’s why supporting initiatives like this continues to be one of the County Council’s top priorities.”
