Fresh CCTV images have been released in the hunt for a man who launched a violent assault on a traveller at a Harrow train station.

Just before 2pm on Friday July 24, a 22-year-old man bumped into the attacker in the ticketing area at Harrow-on-the-Hill station.

The unidentified man - who just moments before had provoked a group on men on the station stairs - began to punch and kick his victim.

A member of staff had to intervene to stop the assault becoming more serious. However the man was knocked unconscious in the attack, and sustained a broken cheek bone as well as cuts and bruising.

British Transport Police Detective Constable Chris Church said: "This was a seemingly unprovoked assault and it is important this violent individual is brought to justice.

"Aggression such as this will not be stood for and we will take all necessary steps to prosecute offenders. Therefore, I’d encourage anyone who has any information, or recognises the man in the CCTV images to contact us.”

"I would also like to thank the brave member of staff who intervened and stopped the man attacking this victim. Had he have not done that, the injuries could have been far worse."

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police by text on 61016 or by calling 0800 405040 quoting reference 204 of 9/8/2016.
