Book worms deprived of a book store for four years will see the return of Waterstones on Saturday.
The retailer previously had a shop in the town centre which closed in December 2012, three years after rival store Borders shut.
However, Waterstones has made a return with a two-storey building in High Street with new décor, friendlier sellers and will be offering exciting events for readers.
The store will stock stationery as well as books
Joe Smithson, a Waterstones staff member, said: “It’s incredibly important for any town to have a book shop, as one of the greatest pleasures in life, we feel, is browsing the shelves and finding something you weren't looking for.
“On top of that our sellers are fantastic at broadening the horizons of any reader past the recommends page on most online sites.”
To celebrate the launch of the shop, there will be goodie bags, face painting, storytelling and appearances from the picture book character, The Dinosaur that Pooped, written by Tom Fletcher and Dougie Poynter, singers from the band McFly.
The store has been given a new warmer and brighter look
Mr Smithson said: “We couldn’t be happier that we’re back and bustling with book lovers. Join us this Saturday for our Grand Opening Event.
“We look forward to serving our community with fantastic events that truly represent Watford and its people.”
