She’s been to London Fashion Week, received fan mail from Lebanon and had more than six million people watch her video.

No, we're not talking about Kate Moss, we’re talking about Laura Hunt, a 34-year-old make-up artist from Watford.

Alongside working in commercial and bridal fashion, Miss Hunt, of Blackwell Drive, also spends two hours a week at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, pampering women who are undergoing chemotherapy.

She works for Look Good Feel Better, a charity that offers hair and beauty advice for women going through cancer treatment.

And her work hasn’t gone unnoticed – last week she featured in a BBC3 documentary.

She said: “My workshops bring people together and I think that’s important for women going through chemotherapy. They can all support one another, no matter what stage they are at.

“It’s a way of helping women forget that they have cancer for two hours and It’s great for their self-esteem too.

“So many women who undergo chemotherapy and lose their hair say they don’t feel like themselves anymore; they say they’ve given up and stop putting make up on.

“People think that make-up is superficial but we’ve had women crying because we’ve shown them how to draw their eyebrows back on – they’ve said they feel themselves again and that’s incredible. It might sound like a small thing, but to many women, it isn’t.

Miss Hunt was contacted by BBC3 who are running a number of short features about people who use their creative skills in charitable ways.

They told Miss Hunt that if her video was success, they would continue with the series. To date, almost six million people have watched it.

Miss Hunt said: “When I got the phone call I was very excited. I certainly never expected the video to go viral and become as big as it has.

“It’s mental really, but incredible. They came and filmed me at London Fashion Week where I was styling Daks Spring Summer Show and they filmed me in a workshop. I spent three days filming and it was amazing.

“So many women have got in touch with me after the video – a lady from Lebanon even reached out to me.”
